Trying to find a creative way to keep your children occupied during the weekends? Want to get them excited for Christmas? Then you’ve come to just the right place! With these super easy and adorable DIY snowman crafts, you’ll be giving your family a fun and festive activity that everyone can enjoy.

Creating winter holiday-themed crafts is one of the easiest and quickest ways to get into the festive spirit. Not only that, but you’ll also be helping your children develop essential motor skills and unleash their creative energy.

Most of the ideas you’ll find below are best suited for younger children aged 3 to 5, with parental supervision, of course. Older kids can also join in the fun, and so can adults—for a wonderful family activity. The required materials are likely already available at home or can be purchased for next to nothing at a craft store. So, are you ready to make some adorable DIY snowman crafts? Let’s get started!

Looking for a craft that will encourage your preschoolers to put their budding creative skills into practice? Why not make these super easy snowman Christmas tree ornaments out of felt? Here’s what you’ll need:

Materials:

  • White and black felt

  • Small buttons (preferably black, but any color will do)

  • Thread in white, black, and red/orange

  • Ribbons in various colors and patterns

  • Small pompom for the nose

  • Scissors

  • Needle

How to Make a Felt Snowman:

  1. Start by cutting out a snowman shape from the white felt. To make this easier, sketch the shape lightly with a pencil first, then cut along the outline.

  2. Cut a small hat from the black felt, using the same pencil-and-cut method.

  3. With a needle and black thread, sew the hat onto the snowman shape.

  4. Sew on the small button eyes with black thread, and use white thread to attach additional buttons down the front of the snowman.

  5. Sew the pompom onto the snowman using red or orange thread to represent the nose.

  6. Take a small piece of ribbon and sew it to the back of the snowman to create a loop for hanging, like in the picture above.

  7. Decorate your adorable snowman craft with another piece of ribbon as a scarf, and you’re done!

Let your kids hang their creations on the Christmas tree and enjoy the festive cheer they helped create.
