New Circulating Cooler with CO2 Refrigerant

Huber Kältemaschinenbau has achieved a significant milestone in sustainable cooling with the launch of the Unichiller 220Tw CO2. This advanced chiller uses CO2 (carbon dioxide) as a refrigerant, a natural component of the air that has been utilized in refrigeration since the 19th century. CO2, also known as R744, offers multiple environmental benefits. It is a colorless gas that liquefies under pressure and boasts a zero ozone depletion potential (ODP = 0). Its greenhouse gas potential is incredibly low, with a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of just 1. For comparison, if 1 kg of CO2 were to leak into the atmosphere, it would have 3,780 times less environmental impact than the conventional refrigerant R404A.

CO2 is also a natural refrigerant found abundantly in nature, meaning it doesn’t require high-energy processes to be produced. It’s non-flammable, non-toxic, and chemically inert, making it a safe and reliable choice for refrigeration.

The Unichiller CO2 stands as a 100% environmentally friendly alternative to systems using conventional synthetic refrigerants. Designed for a wide temperature range of -20 to +100°C, it delivers a cooling capacity of 22 kW and heating power of 12 kW. With a circulation pump capable of 200 l/min and 4.6 bar pressure, it ensures optimal performance. The integrated Pilot ONE touch-screen controller offers advanced functionality for precise temperature management.
